Cubism
"Glass On The Table", Braque, 1909-10.
Cubism is the most radical innovative and influential turn of the twentieth century. Style and movement in art in which perspective with a single view has been abandoned. for simple geometric shapes, interlocking planes and collage. Cubism was truly a revolutionary style of modern art developed by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Cubism was an attempt by artists to revitalize the tire traditions of western art which they believed had run their course. The image above displays analytical cubism ,which took place from 1908-1912. The image has a structured dissection of the subject. A simplified colour palette. Dense image at the centre of the canvas.
- "Somebody that I used to know", Gotye Tiesto, 2011.
The above image is from a music video by Goyte . The guy is experiencing a break up. The thing which Goyte and the new girl have in common is the painting. The painting is the start of his new relationship with this girl. The painting in the video displays cubism. Its not just painted on the canvas but on the actual subject itself.
